The position of Art Handler will work both independently, and in a team setting under the guidance of the Chief Preparator. This position specializes in the care, matting, framing, transportation, and installation of works on paper. This role is integral to preserving and presenting delicate artworks, including drawings, prints, and photographs. As part of an academic museum dedicated to preservation, research, and education, the Art Handler will ensure the safety and longevity of the collection.
The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of best practices for handling, packing, and installing art, ensuring its safety in both storage and exhibition settings. This position requires precision, strong organizational skills, and a commitment to maintaining the highest standards of art stewardship.

Minimum Qualifications
- Knowledge of art museum standards for collections care and safe art handling. Archival hinging, matting, and framing.
- Ability to lift at least 50 lbs.
- Must be comfortable working on ladders or lifts. Possess a current driver’s license.
- 2-4 years in a similar position
- Bachelor’s degree (4 years) – Degree Preferred: Studio Art, Graphic Design, or a related field.
Preferred Qualifications
- Working knowledge of EmbARK or comparable collections management software.
- Adobe Creative Cloud familiarity.
- Monday.com software or a similar project management software familiarity.
- Forklift and aerial lift experience, DOT certification or experience driving a box truck, experience operating a computerized mat cutter.
