Saints Care is funded by the Basic Needs for Postsecondary Students Grant and supports Santa Fe College’s (SF) goal to centralize services for students experiencing basic need insecurity and expand support for food security, housing security, transportation security, technology resources, physical and mental health, and career exploration. The primary mission of Saints Care is to assist students in meetings their basic needs so that they can complete their education and gain employment earning a sustainable, living wage.

The Saints Care Coordinator is responsible for the day-to-day administration of the Saints Care program and actively fosters student academic achievement through advocacy, empowerment, and removal of barriers to academic completion. Serving as a representative of Saints Care and in partnership with Student Affairs personnel, the Coordinator ensures that students’ social, emotional, and academic needs are met; increases access to, affordability of, and student success in post-secondary education; and develops initiatives that increase college engagement and achievement for underserved students.

Job Description

Responsibilities and Duties Include:

  • Ensures that the Saints Care program is implemented in full compliance with grant provisions, College Rules and guidelines, and all other applicable federal regulations and requirements.

  • Manages the implementation of the project’s activities, goals, and objectives as outlined in the grant-funded proposal, federal regulations/guidelines, and SF policies and priorities.

  • Effectively manages the Saints Care program budget as approved by the Department of Education; monitors and reviews expenditures monthly; and prepares a detailed annual budget.

  • Oversees and assists with the maintenance and monitoring of recordkeeping to ensure an efficient system that facilitates participant identification and selection as well as tracking services to students.

  • Manages program recruitment to include coordinating processes and systems that identify eligible students and ensures Saints Care meets identified objectives and provides appropriate support as outlined in the grant proposal.

  • Develops, reviews, and revises program processes and procedures; plans, develops, and presents recommendations regarding technical methods and techniques of program administration and operation.

  • Implements policies and practices that effectively enhance the student experience, student achievement, and recruitment efforts.

  • Establishes collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders to advance and promote Saints Care; maintains consistent communication with the grant office, grant accounting office, Student Life, and the Department of Education.

  • Uses strategic planning and continuous improvement models to facilitate program evaluation and reporting; analyzes and reports on statistical data related to Saints Care functions.

  • Oversees and assists with the evaluation process, including the annual performance review/report and consultant visits.

  • Establishes an effective organizational structure with sound policies and procedures; supervises Saints Care staff including student assistants, Case Manager, and Food Pantry Manager providing mentorship and leadership.

  • Participates in internal and external college-related committees and serves as a representative of SF and Saints Care to external constituents at various events.

  • Complies with all published College Rules, procedures, guidelines, and laws/regulations governing public employees, including but not limited to those related to document retention and destruction, FERPA, and confidentiality.

  • Strictly honors the privacy, security, and confidentiality of student records and other sensitive information according to appropriate state, federal, and college regulations, policies, and procedures.

  • Provides service excellence through courteous, informed, accessible, and professional engagement.

  • Performs other duties as assigned. 

Reports to: Director, Student Life

QUALIFICATIONS

Required: A master’s degree in education, administration, psychology, social work, counseling, or a related field or a bachelor’s degree in education, administration, psychology, social work, counseling, or a related field with two (2) years of related work experience.

Additional Requirements: Applicants must have a valid Florida Class E Operator (driver’s) license and be authorized to drive for the college. A criminal background check will be conducted.

Preferred: Three (3) to five (5) years of experience in designing, managing, or implementing a basic needs or similar program that serves underrepresented groups, preferably low-income, disabled, and/or first-generation students. Demonstrated success in overcoming barriers similar to those of the project’s target population and/or experience working with this population. Successful prior experience in areas of strategic planning, personnel management, fiscal and budget management, program evaluation, and fiscal and programmatic reporting. Skilled in facilitation and training, communication, social media, and technology.

  • Problem Solving – proven skills in identifying issues, determining their cause, developing creative solutions, and following through with implementing resolutions.

  • Relationship Management – able to personally provide high level of interactive service to others, building relationships and addressing identified needs.

  • Results Orientation – proven ability to set and exceed established targets.

  • Systems & Software - proficient level of knowledge of Microsoft Office and/or relevant position software programs.

  • Detail Oriented - Proven accuracy and attention to detail.

  • Multi-task - Ability to expeditiously organize, coordinate, manage, prioritize, and perform multiple tasks simultaneously to swiftly assess a situation, determine a logical course of action, and apply the appropriate response.
