Job Description

Job Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented and knowledgeable Facility Coder to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for accurately reviewing and resolving edits, entering facility ancillary charges with standardized medical codes using ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS coding systems. The Facility Coder plays a crucial role in ensuring that our facility charging is precise and in compliance with regulatory standards. This position demands a keen eye for detail, a deep understanding of medical terminology, and the ability to maintain patient confidentiality and data integrity. The Facility Coder will work closely with coders, medical staff, and billing departments to streamline the facility edits and charging processes and to ensure timely resolution of facility charges hitting various CCI bundling and CPT edits for diagnoses issues to optimize timely reimbursement for services.

Modes of Work

Positions that are eligible for hybrid or mobile/remote work mode are at the discretion of the hiring department. Work agreements are reviewed annually at a minimum and are subject to change at any time, and for any reason, throughout the course of employment. Learn more about the work modes.

Hybrid - the work requirements allow both onsite and offsite work and an employee has an expected recurring onsite presence. On occasion, the employee may be required and must be available to work onsite more frequently if necessitated by unit leadership

Background Screening

Michigan Medicine conducts background screening and pre-employment drug testing on job candidates upon acceptance of a contingent job offer and may use a third party administrator to conduct background screenings.  Background screenings are performed in compliance with the Fair Credit Report Act. Pre-employment drug testing applies to all selected candidates, including new or additional faculty and staff appointments, as well as transfers from other U-M campuses.

Job openings are posted for a minimum of seven calendar days.  The review and selection process may begin as early as the eighth day after posting. This opening may be removed from posting boards and filled anytime after the minimum posting period has ended.
