Overview

R&P is looking for a Test and Trials Manager who wants to join our team. We are a small-sized defense contractor providing Engineering, Logistics, Program Management and Technical Services to government clients. We need a Test and Trials Manager ready to join a fast-paced and exciting work environment.

Duties include Post Delivery Test and Trials support. Plan and manage the execution of all Test and Trials events including but not limited to Final Contract Trial (FCT) rehearsals, grooms, mock FCT and FCT as directed by the PMS 501D Test and Trials Manager. Monitor ship's material condition and coordinate urgent repairs to preserve test and trials schedule. Assist PMS 501 Hull Manager with planning and execution of PSA production test schedule and post repair trials. Identify material and manpower requirements for test and trials events. Manage and Supervise Test and Trials Mission Area Subject Matter Experts (SME) for all test and trials events. Responsibility for coordinate Mission Area SMEs tasking with PMS 501 Hull Manager.

Responsibilities
    Provide direct support to PMS 501D Post Delivery Test & Trial Manager
  • Provide onsite deck plate Trial support.
  • Perform crew training.
  • Provide equipment validations and ship checks.
  • Provide written weekly progress reports.
  • Support coordination and execution of PMS 501 Post Delivery tasking.
  • Supports PMS 501 Final Contract Trials (FCT) and Post Shakedown Availabilities (PSA) preparations and execution including underway.
  • Provide guidance to Team on tasks, plans and schedules
  • Review and understand Trial Cards for assigned areas. NOTE: Cannot rely on filtering by Deck area)
  • Possess (or ready access to), read and review Tech Manuals for assigned ships
  • Possess (or ready access to), read and review drawings for assigned Ships
  • Maintain configuration control and inputs of PRT SOE
  • Assist Contractor and ship's Crew in building PRT SOE
  • Review SOE with each Stakeholder for accuracy
  • Maintain revision control of LOPs in SOE
  • Attend test meetings, production meetings, etc. as required
  • In absence of PMS 501D Post Delivery Test and Trials Manager co-chair test meetings
  • Maintain configuration control and inputs of FCT SOE
  • Provide inputs to arrange Contractor support as required
  • Provide summary overview of days events, accomplishments, discrepancies with PMS 501D Post Delivery Test and Trials Manager before departing (During events such as Dock Trials, Fast Cruise, FCT Events, LOA, DCMA, etc.)
  • Perform review of CDRL 025, assessing which items will be out of calibration periodicity prior to FCT
  • Developing Planning Review 1 and Planning Review 2 FCT briefs
  • Develop, update, and distribute FCT/Rehearsal Rider's List
  • Responsible for scheduling rehearsals. Engage with S/F and LCSRON for assistance
  • Track DFS & TSOs
  • Work with S/F and Contractors and support personnel to set up services for FCT
  • Engage early in AT process (card screening), and track trial card correction and closure (prior to Sailaway and through FCT)
  • Coordinate with INSURV on potential open and inspect candidates
  • Maintain Material Discrepancy List and prioritize repairs for FCT
  • Develop End of Day reports at the conclusion of each FCT rehearsal days and Actual FCT.
  • Schedule Weekly TRR briefs with key stakeholders and provide a read ahead prior to each week's discussion
  • Schedule Senior Leadership TRR briefs at the conclusion of each FCT rehearsal (3 total) and provide read ahead the day prior to the discussion.
  • Coordinate with INSURV and LCSRON to schedule FCT Readiness brief with INSURV, LCSRON and PMS 501 Leadership; Develop meeting invite and provide read ahead prior to discussion
  • Maintain configuration control of FCT POAM and update as required.
  • Coordinate with Ship's FCT Coordinator to provide required advanced deliverables to INSURV prior to the start of FCT
Qualifications
  • Education Requirements:
  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering (BSME) or Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE)
  • A BS or BA degree in a technical/nontechnical field may be substituted provided that the applicant meets all other requirements and has at least 5 years within the six years required of work experience directly related to the position being submitted.
  • In lieu of a degree and six (6) years' experience, twelve (12) years of related engineering discipline can be substituted for applicant not having the required degree.
  • Physical Requirements: Work is combination of sedentary and mobility demands. Significant time will be spent in a shipyard or shipboard environment. Must be physically able to work in an industrial, shipyard and shipboard environment including supporting ship underway time up to 1 week. Must be able to climb ladders and traverse steep inclines and be able to lift a minimum of 35 lbs.

    Duty requirements: San Diego, CA. based work with anticipated travel (20-25%). Ability to travel independently. Ability to work weekends and after normal business hours during PDT&E and PSA events.
