Job Description
LECTURER, Electrical Engineering and Computer Science (EECS), to perform the duties of a lecturer, with a focus on analog, digital, and mixed-signal electronic circuits and systems. There will be full-time participation in educational activities during the academic terms (fall, Independent Activities Period (IAP), and spring). Course assignments will include some of the following and may include other related courses: Electrical Circuits: Modeling and Design of Physical Systems, Analog Electronics Laboratory, Digital Systems Laboratory, Introduction to Electronic Circuits, Solid-State Circuits, and Medical Device Design. Responsibilities include interacting with students (e.g., lecturing, leading recitations, or staffing lab and office hours); participating substantial one-on-one, hands-on mentoring of student laboratory projects; creating content (e.g., lecture materials, problem sets, quizzes, videos, and other on-line materials); carrying out administrative responsibilities (e.g., locating, hiring, and supervising course staff; record-keeping; and interacting with the department and Registrar’s Office; and possible participation in the creation/migration of courses onto OCW and/or MITx); and making curriculum revisions and improvements to courses and adding new topics and technologies and working with other EECS personnel to acquire new hardware and equipment for these classes. Research opportunities may alos arise such as co-supervision of undergraduate or master’s projects.
Job Requirements:REQUIRED: Ph.D. in topical area related to responsibilities with extensive practical experience in topical area related to teaching, specifically with regards to design, implemenation and debugging. Significant successful teaching experience in related undergreaduate courses with a demonstrated interest in educational innovation. Job #21477
The initial appointment will be for two years, with potential for appointment extensions and future promotion to the rank of principal and senior lecturer.
