Job Description

ACADEMIC PROGRAMS ASSISTANT, Materials Science and Engineering, is responsible for providing diverse and complex academic programs administrative support; reporting to the Undergraduate Academic Administrator and Internship Program Director, playing a crucial role in managing the department's internship program and supporting the undergraduate program; ensuring the smooth operation of both programs, enhancing the academic experience for students and fostering strong relationships with external partners; acting as Internship Program Coordination (50%) including developing and maintaining relationships with industry partners to secure internship opportunities for students; and acting as Undergraduate Program Support (50%) including responding to inquiries requiring a general understanding of academic administration policies and procedures.

Job Requirements:

REQUIRED: High School diploma or equivalent; a minimum of three years of direct or related experience in a professional administrative support position; robust written and oral communication skills; excellent interpersonal skills for interacting with a diverse group of research staff, students, and visitors; discretion when handling confidential information; solid organizational and strong problem-solving skills; attention to detail; ability to take initiative, and work both independently and within a team; ability to successfully balance and prioritize work load; proficiency with MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; and ability to learn and become proficient in use and maintenance of databases, file sharing tools, teaching and communication tools in a remote setting, online scheduling tools, web development as well as additional applications such as Adobe Acrobat Reader.
