Job Summary

Responsible for directing the overall purchasing function, including managerial administrative responsibilities for University of Michigan Health (UMH) across the state.  Acts as a liaison between UMH Supply Chain, Hospital System and Regional Finance, Campus Business and Finance, Compliance, Regulatory Affairs, Legal, Clinical Affairs, and the University?s academic enterprise.  Position is ultimately responsible for the legal and business content of the agreements completed by the Contracts and Procurement staff which require compliance with University Regental rules, State of Michigan rules and regulatory requirements of the Federal Government. These agreements encompass system, regional, and local agreements needed to advance our tripartite mission for the entire statewide health system.  This position acts as a Contracting Specialist for the most complex and sensitive agreements needed for the organization.  This role is responsible for developing and refining contracting and sourcing policies and procedures and works with other supply chain leaders to set contracting strategy in alignment with health system goals.  This role is responsible for implementing changes in strategy and facilitates redesign of purchasing agent roles and responsibilities and policies and procedures across all the contracting and purchasing functions across the state.

SIGNING LIMIT ? Unlimited Years and up to $5,000,000 per agreement

Background Screening

Michigan Medicine conducts background screening and pre-employment drug testing on job candidates upon acceptance of a contingent job offer and may use a third party administrator to conduct background screenings.  Background screenings are performed in compliance with the Fair Credit Report Act. Pre-employment drug testing applies to all selected candidates, including new or additional faculty and staff appointments, as well as transfers from other U-M campuses.
